It's all too hard somedays
Why do other people have to make things so difficult? It's now person number two who is offended I didn't give them a personal call to tell them I am engaged. Why do people have to make it all about them? Isn't it my wedding, and Tony's wedding? It's things like this that make me want to run away and elope and not tell a soul.
So I've offended an ex-boyfriend, and now an old friend (was my bf in highschool) who I have barely spoken to in th last year, and who lives in the UK.
Does this make me a bad person?

Definitely not! These people are acting like retards. It's nice to treasure old relationships and friendships, but you have to be realistic about where they currently stand. Someone you've barely spoken to in a year is not a close friend any more, so has no right to make you feel bad. That's my job :)
That's almost hilarious.
I'm not sure why ex's would assume they get invited anyway. Unless you've staid in contact, they're just aquaintances really.
Oh well. I wouldnt' take it to heart.
Well it wasn't about being invited, it was about being called to announce the engagement. Either way, not talking to someone in a year means they are not at the forefront of your mind, or friendship, therefore it's not crucial.
I'm pretty sure when I get engaged even half my good friends won't get a phone call! Tell them to grow up, and don't let this second one get to you.
phone calls are for family and for those friends who you immediately feel compelled to call to share the news with when it happens. at least that's what i think. and that's my take on it. whenever it happens - family and close friends. and even then i can see it being text messages until i get to see them in person.
people are just dumb sometimes and have delusions of self grandeur. *rolls eyes* absolutely ridiculous. don't let it get to you, chickie!
xx
