Riches greater than gold

It's amazing how far the appreciation of your friends can alter your mood. Last night when I left Ambar I got 2 big hugs from Steve who lifted me off my feet, and a big hug from Adam where I was again lifted off my feet and twirled around. I may not be rich in posessions, money and things, but I sometimes think I am the richest person in the world for my friends.

I skipped all the way back to my car :)

Breakfest

Currently I am sitting in my living room watching about the 20th in a row episode of Family guy with Matt, Aaron, Maggie and Ben. It's 9.30 at night and we've been monging out here since about 6am.

So our day yesterday started at Cindy and Shenan's place in Rivervale with a scrummy pancake and champagne breakfast. We met up there with Matt, Maggie, Hoops, Steve, Mark, Emma, Rich and Aaron. The day quickly heated up to a lovely 36 degrees.

Alex and Faye dropped Ben and I off at Kings Park to catch the bus with Keziah's group of friends, fondly referred to as 'the kids'. We were forced to consume more pancakes and champers before we got on the bus, the things I do to help my friends!

We got to Belvoir at around 2.30pm to a somewhat quiet amphitheatre. Shade was at a premium so consequently everyone was sitting huddled together which added to the uncomfortable heat. After an hour or so the rest of the group turned up thanks to Aaron driving them out there.

After a while the day started to cool down a bit as there was some cloud cover and a cool wind, and that's when the dancing started! Steve and I boogied down to Slyde and then Loose Canons for as long as we could before needing to stop and cool down.

The rest of the evening was a great mix of meeting new people, dancing, drinking, catching up with old friends and cementing current friendships. There were a few heavy conversations as always and the highlight of the talk was the 'circle of complements', everyone loves an ego boost.

So 11pm came and it was time for us to all go home. We all piled into Aaron's car and made our way to Mark's place in Subiaco for the afters party. Maggie and I were joined at the hip as always and snuggled on a couch outside. Poor Aaron was totally wrecked and kept falling asleep. We stayed there until about 5.30am and then made our way to my house to chill out further. Aaron crashed on the couch as soon as we got in the door. Maggie and I started to watch some Family Guy on DVD until Matt arrived at which point we were all exhausted and had to sleep.

I think it was about 11am when we all woke up. We had some food, and most importantly some caffeine. After that Aaron, Maggie, Alex and I had a glorious swim down at Harvey beach, which is just down the road in the river.

The rest of the day was spent lounging about, eating, drinking (mostly water) and watching copious amounts of Family guy. So I think a good couple of days was had by all. I know I really enjoyed myself, and it was nice to hang with the same people for an extended period of time, kinda like an adult sleep over, except more fun!

Christmas party

Last Saturday was my work Christmas social function. The previous year it was pretty crap both the food and the venue. This year however it was great! I think that's the good thing about low expectations. So it was at Government house ballroom which was just beautiful, and the food was really nice too.
It was a really good mix of all the fun people at work as well as a number of unknown faces. It's a pretty big company so there must have been a few hundred people at the event. Steve came along with me as my 'fake date'. Or as my friend Polly kept calling him 'my lover'. haha. Anyway we had a really fun night laughing dancing and drinking.

Kenny

I've just been watching the doco style movie 'Kenny' and it has some of the most classic quotes.
'Silly as a bum full of smarties'
'With all those kids running around on the wacky tabacy and fruity disco bickies there as mad as a clowns cock'
'with Mums shape, from behind she looked like a fridge with a head'
Hilarious stuff! If you haven't seen it you should!

Gillian Welch -

My Latest Fave

Eep!

Something new and good may be happening but I'm too scared to get excited or let myself think beyond the present moment. I don't know if I can take the ups and downs, maybe I will lock myself in a room with no contact to the outside world. That will fix things! Oh yeah and I'm supposed to be Miss Positive, so hmm...ok, lock myself in a room with flowers painted on the walls..that should do it!

I'm sure as always this is doomed for failure...but doomed in a glass half full kinda way. Ah crap, can't put a positive spin on that one.

Things are gunna change

I've been in a depressive funk for at least the last 2 months and today I've decided I'm going to be happy instead! I'm going to see the glass half full, revel in the good things that happen to me rather than dwell on the bad. I will laugh in the face of animosity, I will see the funny side of any crap things that might occur in my life. If someone is mean to me or tries to piss me off I will smile at them. I'm going to count my blessing daily and spread love and happiness everywhere I go.

I'm a big sucker

Everytime I let myself think something good might happen, I get sucked in, then have the rug pulled out from under me....fuck!
