Those crazy Japanee
So another boring Saturday at work with nothing to do but trawl the internet for the weird and wonderful. So thanks to Gwen Stefani you've heard of Harakuju in Japan, the mecca of weird fashion trends. So whilst looking at this stuff I've discovered all kind of weird little Japanese fashion sub cultures.
For example the Yamambas who wear heavy white eye makeup, get very dark fake tans, bleach their hair blonde, wear big platform shoes and dress in anything fluro. They can also be known as Kogals,Gogals,Gongals and Gangals.
For Kogals the idea is to look like the classic Californian Valley girl. It seems to be a culture of materialism, and wealth which is expressed through the expensive fashion items they buy like Louise Vitton and Burberry. They are also the first try new mobile phone technology. I think Kogals are not quite as 'cartoony' as Gonals. This culture exists in the Shibuya region of Tokyo.
