My scaphoid, an update
Firstly: I f'ing hate hospitals.
So this morning I was to go back to Royal Perth's outpatient clinic for them to have another look and update me on my hand. Firstly it took about 3 hours to get my x-rays done, then I was told they needed to be re-done. I think they must have been having troubles all morning, and quite a few people had to get theirs re-done. So a few hours later the next ones were done, and then finally I was taken to another waiting room to speak to the Dr. I had to wait there for what seemed like hours. It seemed everyone was getting to go in but me. Just when I was about to speak to one of the nurses in case my file wasn't there and they had missed me or something, my name was called.
So the Dr told me it was a really weird place to get a fracture. He also said it hadn't healed very much, but this was due to the nature of the bone itself. As it has no direct attachment to anything it is notoriously hard to get it to heal. He said it may even be the case that it never heals, but it shouldn't cause any problems either way.
So he has told me another 4 weeks in the cast....bugger! So the cast will just prevent me from hurting myself if I have to suddenly use my wrist more than it actually needing to be help in that fixed position.
So anyway, a step in the right direction on the road to recovery, not exactly what I was hoping for, but better than nothing.
