Pistol whipped cream

So it's been weird at work lately. Every time I come back from my weekend I find out someone has been fired. Firstly it was a girl who wrote money off on a friends insurance policy (what an idiot!). The weird thing was it's not like she was new and had no idea of the internal processes. She has worked there longer than me! She knows we get BQR reports which report any moneys written off every month. She knows all our calls are recorded, and she knows she shouldn't serve anyone who is a friend. I can't work it out, it's very strange!!

Then the other thing that happened was 2 guys and a girl got fired over sending porn via e-mail. The two guys were the 'turbo super gay' variety, and i believe they also got caught writing each other very explicit e-mails about naughty man on man business! The girl was done for just forwarding a whole bunch of 'funny' e-mails involving penises wearing french maids outfits! haha

In other work related news 2 friends of mine are leaving IAG for much more lucrative brokerage jobs. Neither of them are any more qualified than me, and so it now has me thinking about rather than moving up in the company, doing a side ways move to another company all together. Just by doing my job I have a cert 3 in financial services, so that means I have teir 2.

I am sure being a broker, or a brokers assistant will be a far more stressful job than I have right now. But I am up for the challenge, and need something new to sink my teeth into. So I shall be fixing up my resume, and I will start doing some research on what else is out there.

Wow :) Good on you! You deserve better from what I hear.

Lucky I'm the boss, or I'd be fired.

Dione said to me recently I should look into mature age entry to medicine. After talking to a couple of new lawyers last week, this thought was again sparked. However I always come back to the same thought. I don't just enjoy my job, I actually enjoy my profession.

I enjoy the challenges that my work offers and the different career paths I can take. It's flexible and keeps my mind engaged. There's as much stress as you want and basically as much money as you want. If I wanted to I could leave this job and have another next week for more money. I've traded environment for money.

I guess what I'm saying is that there are a bunch of options out there. If you want something enough it's not going to seem like hard work, you just need to find what you want to do. If you really wanted to be a naturopath then the sacrifices wouldn't have seemed so large. If I really thought being a doctor would be heaps better than what I'm doing now then I'd have already started sussing out finances and selling my car and talking to my parents about moving home etc.

If you want to be a broker and you see insurance as your life (work is a large part of life) then go for it. If not, then I think this will just be another stop gap before you get bored and look for somethign else.

Well to be brutally honest, I think having a family is going to be what really fulfills me in life. Work is something that will fill the time in between. I need a new challenge, and I won't know what broking is really like until I do it. I'm good at my current job and that in itself has some enjoyment. But as you most likely know I am bored of it, so I'm up for try something new.
